Calvary Chapel Bible College (CCBC) is a ministry of Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa. The original campus was founded more than twenty years ago as a part of Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa’s overall vision and ministry to feed and equip God’s people for service. It is directly overseen by Pastor Chuck Smith. The Chico Extension is a ministry of Calvary Chapel Chico and is directly overseen by Pastor Sam Allen.
The Chico extension campus was established to serve part-time students and students who cannot attend the main campus. The same degree programs available at the main campus are also offered through the Chico Extension Campus, and the same requirements apply. Coursework includes in-depth studies of various books of the Bible, as well as electives such as: apologetics, inductive Bible study, and the cults. In addition to the scholastic preparation for full-time service, CCBC provides opportunities to gain practical ministry experience. The graduate of CCBC should be equipped to serve in the ministry of his or her calling in the body of Christ.
The Calvary Chapel School of Ministry (CCSM) and the Calvary Chapel Audit Program (CCAP) are both offered through Calvary Chapel Chico. These programs are designed for those who cannot afford a degree but still desire to be equipped for ministry. Students can choose the program that best suits their individual needs. The courses offered consist of verse-by-verse in-depth studies of doctrinally vital books like Genesis, Daniel, the Gospels, Acts, Romans, Ephesians, Galatians, Hebrews, First John and Revelation. Additional offerings include courses such as Cults & Apologetics, Inductive Bible Study, Homiletics, and many others. Specialty classes including discipleship, evangelism, new believers and premarital counseling are also offered. The School of Ministry sponsors retreats, special events, workshops and seminars.
